Hela: of Mice & Magic releases on 1 December 2026, digitally on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and physically as the Harmony Edition for PS5, Xbox Series X and Switch 2. The free demo has been open since 8 October and closes on 9 November, three weeks before launch.
Those two dates pull in opposite directions. The demo is not a slice of the campaign — it is a self-contained side story on a map built only for it, roughly thirty to sixty minutes long, and nothing from it carries into the retail build. The launch, by contrast, is a single global date with no staggered regional rollout, which is unusual enough for a game sold in Japan by Shochiku and in China by Boltray Games that it is worth stating plainly.
What the three weeks between them are for
The gap covers the last certification window before a simultaneous four-platform release. It also means the free demo closes on 9 November and launch follows on 1 December, so the three weeks in between are the only stretch where the decision has to be made on trailers and second-hand impressions. Nothing is being taken in advance either: no pre-order has been opened anywhere.
That last part is the practical detail most launch pages miss: there is nothing to pre-order. The Steam page takes wishlists, not orders, and no digital price has been published for any platform.
